MAINTENANCE AND CARE

925 Sterling Silver is a "living" metal. It will oxidize when exposed to skins natural oils and oxygen and will evolve based on your habits and environment.

Follow these steps to maintain material integrity.

1) DAILY WEAR & HABITS

  • Frequent wear is the best maintenance. The oils from your skin and the natural friction of your daily routine will actually "self-polish" the high points of your pieces.
  • Apply colognes, moisturizers, and hair products before putting on jewelry. Chemicals in scents act as catalysts for rapid tarnishing.
  • Remove rings and bracelets before weightlifting, or manual labor. Silver is malleable; high impact will cause warping or deep scratches.

2) ENVIROMENTAL EXPOSURE

  • Avoid chlorine (pools/hot tubs), salt water, and household detergents. These cause aggressive "pitting" and uneven graying.
  • Remove before showering or swimming. If the piece gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Remove before bed to prevent chain tension, snagging, or unnecessary sweat buildup.

3) RESTORATION & CLEANING

  • If you prefer a clean shine, polish weekly. If you prefer the "Sunken Relic" look, allow the patina to build up in the deep textures.
  • Use a silver polishing cloth for high-points only.
  • If necessary, use only warm water and mild pH-neutral soap for light debris. Do not rub. Dry thoroughly.

4) ENVIROMENTAL EXPOSURE

  • When not in use, store in a low-humidity, dark environment.
  • Use the provided BOY OZU pouch or an airtight container to slow down natural oxidation. Don't let other jewelry touch, leading to surface scratches and premature wear.

14k Gold Vermeil is a high-quality finish where a thick layer of gold is bonded to 925 Sterling Silver. With heavy use, it can last up to 2 years, however if worn occasionally paired with proper maintenance it can last 3-5+ years.

Follow these steps to maintain your gold vermeil pieces:

1) DAILY WEAR & HABITS

  • Apply all colognes, lotions, and hair products before putting on jewelry. Vermeil is highly sensitive to the chemicals in grooming products, which can cause the gold to fade or discolor.
  • Remove all pieces before high-output activities or cardio. Sweat & body acidity can accelerate the fading process.
  • Remove rings and bracelets before weightlifting, or manual labor. Deep scratches in the gold layer will reveal the silver underneath.

2) ENVIROMENTAL EXPOSURE

  • Avoid chlorine (pools/hot tubs), salt water, and household detergents. These are corrosive to gold vermeil and will permanently strip the finish.
  • Remove before showering or hand-washing. If the piece gets wet, dry it immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Remove before bed to prevent unnecessary friction against bedding, preventing accidental "buffing" of the gold surface.

3) RESTORATION & CLEANING

  • Use only a dry, extremely soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe away dust or skin oils.
  • NEVER use silver polishing cloths or liquid dips. Silver cloths contain abrasives that will eat through the gold layer; chemical dips will strip it entirely.
